About the Golden Spike Heritage Foundation
The Golden Spike Heritage Foundation was organized as a not-for-profit corporation under Utah law on July 6, 1994. It was brought into being to facilitate the implementation of the findings of the Golden Spike Rail Feasibility Study which was completed earlier that year.
The goal of the Foundation is to reestablish a rail link from Ogden, Utah to Promontory Summit, Utah and the Golden Spike National Historic Site and to promote the operation of a tourist passenger train through the historic corridor from Ogden through Brigham City and Corinne to the Golden Spike National Historic Site.
To achieve this goal we are working cooperatively with all state and federal agencies including the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and any other groups, public or private, that have a stake in the project. To further our goal we have leased 2.41 acres from the the Union Pacific in Corinne and have purchased the original 1869 Station to be placed on the land.
